Rail technology solutions specialist, OEM Technology Solutions
has introduced the new PC3 programmable controllers for the rail industry.
OEM has a dedicated R&D department that designs and creates outstanding products for the rail industry worldwide with the PC1 and PC3 programmable controllers among some of their most successful products till date.
OEM and its partners recently designed and developed an Intel Dual Core PC3 computer system with integrated cellular and 802.11 Wi-Fi communications for train borne telemetry systems. The system supports data transfers such as timetable information, video images, alarms, train performance metrics, events and train location between train and check points.
Presented to the world at the Innotrans trade show in Berlin, the new PC3 Series Wi-Fi programmable controllers have generated huge amounts of interest with the product also winning two Engineers Australia engineering excellence awards in 2008.
Phil Solomon – R&D Manager at OEM explains that a key objective was to make the PC3 controllers accessible by a wireless interface, therefore creating Wi-Fi connectivity and software for handheld tablets and smart phones was the next step. He adds that the PC3 is perfect for refurbishments where there is no power or infrastructure to allow a hardline connection.
