Norman G. Clark  offer Ralphs-Pugh conveyor rollers. Ralphs-Pugh offer an array of products including sprocket and grooved rollers for powered systems, urethane tapered rollers, one-way rollers, and troughing units. Components include bushing/end plug inserts and commercial and precision bearing inserts for metal and plastic tubing.

Manufactured to customer specifications, Ralphs-Pugh offer metal rollers in a range of bearings, tube, and shaft configurations. Drive options include sprockets and grooves. Typical applications include package and unit handling, cargo handling, and food and beverage processing. The following information is provided to match the product with the operating environment.

Tube materials and finishes:

  • Carbon steel
  • Galvanised steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminium
  • Anodising
  • Electropolishing
  • Polishing and stainless steel passivation

Other options available on request are:

  • Drive options: Grooves and sprockets
  • Cover options: Urethane sleeves, High Density Polyethlene (HDPE) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
  • Tube sizes: 0.75" to 3.50" outside diameter
  • Tube sizes: 0.75" to 3.50" outside diameter

Ralphs-Pugh plastic rollers are available in a range of bearings, tube and shaft combinations. Plastic rollers are suitable for light duty gravity applications, humid, corrosive or wet environments. Typical applications include food processing, chemical or acidic environments, battery handling and package handling. The following information is provided to match the product with the operating environment.

  • Drive options: Grooves
  • Cover options: Urethane sleeves, HDPE, UHMW, Teflon
  • Special option: Steel reinforced PVC rollers
  • Tube sizes: 0.84" to 4.5"

Urethane elastomers combine the advantages of rigid plastics, metals and ceramics with the elasticity of rubber. Urethane resists abrasion and reduces the effects of shock and impact on load bearing capacity. Urethane covered rollers, available from Norman G. Clark, does not slip and are an alternative to the PVC. These rollers do not mar conveyed materials. Urethane provides better wear resistance and noise dampening, making it suitable for sleeved and tapered rollers.

In addition, urethane shaft adapters, when placed over the roller shaft ends, eliminate frame wear caused by metal-to-metal contact and extend the life of the conveyor frame. The advantages of urethane versus metal, plastic and rubber materials are summarised below.

Advantages of urethane versus metal:

  • Abrasion resistance
  • Noise Abatement
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Toughness upon impact
  • Advantages of urethane versus plastic:
  • Non-brittle upon impact
  • Elastomeric memory when stretched returns to original dimensions
  • Abrasion resistance

Advantages of urethane versus rubber:

  • Abrasion resistance
  • Cut and tear resistance
  • Higher load bearing capacity
  • Ozone resistance
  • Colours available for colour coding parts
  • Harder durometer range
  • Resistance to mold and fungi
  • Non-marking

Ralphs-Pugh cantilever rollers are available in combinations of bearings, shafts and tube materials. Norman G. Clark offer cantilever rollers for both gravity and powered applications. The one end of the cantilevered roller is capped preventing any type of contamination from reaching the bearing. The opposite end has an extended fixed shaft that can be threaded or standard finish. Typical applications are vertical guide rollers and belt guides.

Plastic cantilever rollers have the following capabilities:

  • Tubes: Standard white PVC
  • Hi-impact white PVC with UV stabiliser
  • Drive options: Grooves
  • Special options: Plastic tube can be internally steel reinforced

Metal cantilever rollers have the following capabilities:

  • Tubes: Carbon steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium
  • Tubes finishes: Zinc and nickel plating, anodising, polished, electropolished, passivated
  • Drive options: Grooves
  • Cover options: Urethane sleeves, HDPE, UHMW, PVC
