Ralphs-Pugh plastic rollers are available in a range of bearings, tube and shaft combinations. Plastic rollers are suitable for light duty gravity applications, humid, corrosive or wet environments. Urethane elastomers combine the advantages of rigid plastics, metals and ceramics with the elasticity of rubber. Urethane resists abrasion and reduces the effects of shock and impact on load bearing capacity. Urethane covered rollers, available from Norman G. Clark, does not slip and are an alternative to the PVC. These rollers do not mar conveyed materials. Urethane provides better wear resistance and noise dampening, making it suitable for sleeved and tapered rollers.
In addition, urethane shaft adapters, when placed over the roller shaft ends, eliminate frame wear caused by metal-to-metal contact and extend the life of the conveyor frame. The advantages of urethane versus metal, plastic and rubber materials are summarised below.

Ralphs-Pugh cantilever rollers are available in combinations of bearings, shafts and tube materials. Norman G. Clark offer cantilever rollers for both gravity and powered applications. The one end of the cantilevered roller is capped preventing any type of contamination from reaching the bearing. The opposite end has an extended fixed shaft that can be threaded or standard finish. Typical applications are vertical guide rollers and belt guides.
