NORGREN’S multi-position airless cylinders (MPAC) are providing automation users with a new option for high speed, high accuracy and positioning applications.

The MPAC's electrically driven actuator is capable of very high linear speeds of up to 2.7m per second with extremely high acceleration of up to 4G.

These two parameters provide exceptionally short cycle times that are critical in many automation applications to increase productivity.

Features include a built in feedback device that permits the actuator to accomplish a variety of other functions besides high accuracy positioning. One of these functions enables the cylinder to profile its movement to minimise unwanted mechanical jerking or rough handling of delicate parts.

The MPAC can control the amount of force applied in 1% increments up to the maximum force in any stroke position. This is especially valuable in component assembly applications.

All micro-electronics in the unit are sealed, providing water and dust protection of IP67 (submersible in water to 1m).

IP67 connectors are used between the MPAC unit and the controller, making the unit suitable for packaging and material handling applications.

As there is no contact between moving and non-moving parts in the linear unit, there is no need for lubrication - making the unit suitable for use in the food and beverage industries.

The multi-position airless cylinders can be manufactured to various stroke lengths and thrusts and can be ordered complete with controller and cabling with just one order code.

The cylinders are also available as bare linear units or with a precision non-rotating guide.
