Nichiyu Australia and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announce merger

The recent announcement of a merger between forklift manufacturers Nippon Yusoki (Nichiyu Australia) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will have no effect on the current distribution arrangements for both the companies in Australia.

The merger will see Nichiyu Australia and Mitsubishi consolidate their Japanese marketing activities through a new company, Nichiyu MHI Forklift, which is to be established early in 2009.

Nichiyu Australia’s National Product Manager, Craig Coles, has said that the move is a demonstration of the confidence that Mitsubishi have in Nichiyu Australia’s manufacturing and distribution expertise.

Both these companies have been establishing a working relationship for many years with Nichiyu Australia already manufacturing a number of models under the Mitsubishi brand for export. Mitsubishi have also recently become the major shareholder in Nichiyu Australia by increasing its shareholding.

Nichiyu Australia will be investing more in the new company’s capital and the joint venture will be a Nichiyu consolidated company.
