NEXUS Risk Services has launched a risk management product aimed at companies needing better communication and OH&S compliance between multisited offices.
Risk Manager On-Line gives any company the ability to prove they have done everything within their power to prevent accidents.
It allows a company to view, sort and report on workplace hazards, incidents and accidents online via a Web-based portal programme. A company can also publish its entire policies and procedures manual online to all staff in a secure environment.
It also gives directors and management easy access to reports and internal procedures allowing them to take control of the compliance process.
The system can help companies reduce workplace injuries, reduce costs, improve performance and maintain records. It can also significantly reduce their insurance premiums.
WorkCover recently introduced an amendment to the OHS(CE) Act 1991 which takes effect from the 13th September 2004. Companies are now required to demonstrate that not only do they have the required policies and have adequately trained all staff, but also that they can prove that these policies are enforced and in current practice.
Civil and criminal penalties are now much higher under this new amendment. In some cases managers and directors could be fined as much as $500,000 and/or jailed for up to two years in the event of a serious injury or death in the workplace.
