Network Appliance storage software growth continues to outpace the market

Network Appliance  continues to gain momentum in the storage software market, growing fast among the 10 leading storage software providers both sequentially (Q4'06–Q1'07) and year over year (Q1'06–Q1'07).

According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker Q1 20071, NetApp grew 10 times faster than the overall storage software market from Q4'06 to Q1'07, and maintained or gained share in each submarket segment in which it provides offerings.

According to IDC, NetApp also maintained the number two market share position in the storage replication software market, closing the gap on the market leader.

This marks the seventh consecutive quarter that NetApp has outpaced the overall storage software market.

For overall storage software market revenues, NetApp achieved 10.0% market share in Q1'07 and grew at 49.4% while the market grew at 11.4% year over year (Q1'06–Q1'07).

Also according to IDC, NetApp grew fast among the top five storage replication software vendors and currently holds the number two position, narrowing the gap with the current replication market leader.

Specifically, NetApp grew over three times the market rate compared to Q1'06, and six times the rate of the market leader in this subsegment.

This also marks the fifth consecutive quarter in which NetApp grew faster than the replication submarket.

“We believe the explosive growth NetApp is experiencing in the storage software market is fueled directly by the value customers are gaining from solutions that help them safeguard and make the most of their data assets and simplify their data management processes,” said Elisa Steele, vice president of Corporate Marketing at Network Appliance.
