Network Appliance has added SnapManager for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to its suite of application data management solutions.
SnapManager provides customers with enterprise-class backup, recovery, deployment, and management to help them dramatically reduce costs associated with data management.
NetApp is providing Office SharePoint Server 2007 customers with a cost-effective data management foundation and robust backup and recovery capabilities for resilient and scalable storage.
“Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is fast becoming a hub for information and collaboration within organisations worldwide,” said Seth Patton, director SharePoint Products and Technologies at Microsoft.
“We are pleased that NetApp is providing a data management solution that will complement the enhancements delivered in this latest release. NetApp SnapManager software will help IT administrators get more out of their hardware and networking investments and make deployment easier and more flexible, while giving administrators more time for value-added work.”
NetApp SnapManager for Office SharePoint Server 2007 dramatically increases the productivity of organisations, administrators, and data assets by providing customers with maximum data availability, simplified data management, and reduced costs.
Additionally, by leveraging other NetApp software such as NetApp SnapMirror, customers can achieve simple, flexible, and cost-effective Snapshot replication and mirroring for easy-to-use disaster recovery of SharePoint Server data.
NetApp also provides tools that centralise data into easy-to-manage storage pools to easily scale Microsoft Office SharePoint Server environments.
SharePoint users can also use NetApp FlexVol software to easily resize storage pools to maximise storage resource utilisation.
Avanade, a global IT consultancy dedicated to using the Microsoft platform to help enterprises achieve profitable growth, has worked with NetApp to provide customers with a simplified approach to their data management needs by leveraging the architectural simplicity of NetApp storage.
“We congratulate NetApp on the release of NetApp SnapManager for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server,” said Larry LeSueur, vice president, Infrastructure and Collaboration at Avanade.
“As we have worked with customers to implement Office SharePoint Server solutions, we are excited to see this new offering and how technologies continue to evolve to enable customers to gain competitive advantage and increased employee productivity. The new SnapManager software from NetApp will help customers consolidate their information onto one highly manageable and scalable platform.”
Additionally, NetApp Global Services (NGS) will offer professional and support services that complement these software offerings to help customers rapidly design and implement Office SharePoint Server environments enabled by NetApp.
Plus, NGS resources are Microsoft certified and have experience in industry verticals such as financial services and the government sector.
The services offerings will be organised as components and will include consolidation and migration, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery for SharePoint Server 2007.
All of the service components for Office SharePoint Server 2007 will share a structured implementation methodology that follows proven project management concepts and emphasises knowledge transfer to IT operations staff.
NetApp SnapManager for Office SharePoint Server supports Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) for high availability and Microsoft Multipath Input/Output (I/O) for resiliency in FC and IP SAN environments.
SnapManager for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 expands the NetApp business application integration software portfolio, which includes NetApp SnapManager for Microsoft Exchange, SnapManager for Microsoft SQL Server, SnapManager for SAP, and SnapManager for Oracle.
SnapManager for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 will be available in August 2007.
