Network Appliance appoints new director of partner and public sector sales

Scott Morris

Network Appliance  has appointed Scott Morris as new Director, Partner and Public Sector Sales, NetApp Australia and New Zealand.

This strategic appointment comes as a result of Morris’s proven track record of 18 years in IT involving senior sales and channel positions within NetApp and other leading technology vendors.

In his new role, Morris is responsible for all NetApp channel relationships and sales strategies across Australia and New Zealand, including increasing the level of channel engagement, growing the NetApp Platinum Partner portfolio and broadening the business though the NetApp key distributor, Avnet.

He is also charged with the task of managing and growing strategic partnerships with IBM and major systems integrators. Morris will be responsible for all channel sales teams along with federal, state and local government teams stationed in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth, Auckland and Wellington.

Prior to this appointment, Morris held the role of Northern Region Sales Manager for NetApp, where he was responsible for sales and channel business in New South Wales, Queensland, ACT and Northern Territory.

Morris held this role for three years. Earlier this year, Morris led the team which secured the large managed services deal in NetApp global history.

Before joining NetApp in 2004, Morris was Sales Director for Dell, where he held responsibility for large corporate business across Australia and New Zealand.

In this role, Morris increased the company’s channel business by more than 150% in three years.

Previous to this, Morris worked as Channel Manager, NSW, for Compaq, the company’s large branch and prior to this, a number of other roles including various channel- and sales-focused positions within leading technology vendors and value-added distributors.

In his new role, Morris will report to Peter O’Connor, Managing Director for NetApp Australia and New Zealand.

O’Connor said, “Our goal at NetApp is to solve and simplify our customers’ data management challenges. As such, it is critical that we create strategic roles to maximise the value we can provide to customers, and maintain strong relationships with our channel and strategic alliance partners”.

“Scott’s new role is a key position for NetApp and his outstanding achievements in recent years are evidence that he is an ideal sales leader to manage our channel and public sector business.”
