Network Appliance and Dalet streamlines digital asset management

Network Appliance , also known as NetApp, and Dalet Digital Media Systems has announced that they have partnered to create a digital asset management and archive solution that is unparalleled in terms of price, performance and ease of operation, certified for the high-performance NetApp Data ONTAP GX operating system.

By implementing Data ONTAP GX on their Dalet systems, customers can increase productivity and achieve higher quality content faster in their high- performance and multisite facilities.

Enterprise-level broadcast customers face escalating challenges today with increased competition and mounting technical requirements, especially concerning high-definition content.

Dalet and NetApp, partners since 2006, provide these customers with a content management system capable of meeting throughput requirements for the demanding production facilities, scaling up to 6PB seamlessly.

Open file-based architecture means that customers can choose among best-of-breed applications on any platform, knowing that their files will be accessible.

This IT solutions-based approach helps customers share their content more easily throughout the production and delivery pipeline, decreasing the time to higher quality finished content for broadcast, nternet streaming, mobile distribution, or archive.

In addition, with Data ONTAP GX, customers enjoy world-class support for 24/7 mission-critical media operations from NetApp Global Services (NGS).

"Dalet is truly excited about the new potential that Data ONTAP GX provides to broadcasters," said Stéphane Schlayen, chief operating officer of Dalet S.A.

"The increased performance and bandwidth levels now available truly empower the implementation of file-based workflows in both SD and HD environments, across both small- and large-scale operations."

"NetApp is pleased that Dalet has certified Data ONTAP GX for its digital content management systems," said Bill Olson, vice president of Worldwide Industry Verticals at NetApp.

"The continued partnership and innovation from our two companies will not only help our customers create better media content faster but also achieve better business results with simplified, tested interoperability."

The Data ONTAP GX operating system is optimised to meet the performance requirements of high-performance computing and digital media content applications running on large Linux, UNIX and Windows computer clusters, while delivering unmatched management simplicity and reliability.

Data ONTAP GX provides scale-out storage that supports petabytes of capacity and gigabytes per second of aggregate throughput.
