NetApp broaden their Midsize Enterprise storage market focus with introduction of S family, formerly known as StoreVault. This new S family delivers enterprise-level storage features at a midsize market price.
NetApp announced the complete integration of the S family, formerly known as StoreVault(tm), as iheir full line of storage and data management solutions. The S family has won 10 different industry awards over the past three years under the StoreVault name and provides the Midsize Enterprise (MSE) and remote office and branch office (ROBO) markets with enterprise-level storage capabilities at an entry-level price. The S family is available worldwide directly from NetApp and through authorised NetApp channel partners. The completed integration further signifies NetApp's continued commitment to its MSE and ROBO customers and broadens the solutions available to all NetApp partners and end users.
The S family provides MSE and ROBO customers with an affordable, multifunction, unified storage platform ideal for use in first-time environments. With an economical price point that makes it fit for small and midsize customers, the S family offers a subset of NetApp's Data ONTAP(r) operating system, with key technologies such as Snapshot(tm), RAID-DP(r) and thin provisioning. Furthermore, the integration gives existing StoreVault customers further access to NetApp's full line of storage products, services and software for an end-to-end storage offering.
For resellers, the integration of the S family into the NetApp(r) product portfolio presents an opportunity for increased business growth and deeper customer relationships. The NetApp VIP resellers can reach new customers and further penetrate existing accounts. Value-added resellers (VARs), who previously sold only StoreVault solutions, can now have access to NetApp's FAS2000 series, allowing them to reach a broader set of opportunities.
The MSE and ROBO markets are important customer targets for NetApp, stated Scott Morris, director of partner sales for NetApp Australia and New Zealand. By integrating the S family into their full line of storage and data management products, the customers and partners are provided with a range of choices to meet their unique storage needs. This is enhanced by the worldwide distribution of the S family products through the existing channels.
