The annual National Manufacturing Week 2012 has received support from NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell, who believes the event is crucial to ensuring that local businesses can continue to compete in international markets.
The National Manufacturing Week is Australia’s leading integrated manufacturing industry event. The NMW 2012 will take place from May 8 to May 11 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
According to Mr O’Farrell, he is keenly aware as the Premier and Minister for the nation’s largest manufacturing region, Western Sydney of the value delivered by a healthy and dynamic manufacturing sector for the NSW economy.
The National Manufacturing Week aims to strengthen industry through technology, innovation and education. This year’s event, NMW 2012 will feature innovations from many of the world’s leading manufacturing suppliers including Nord Drivesystems, Kemppi and BOC.
Smaller companies that reflect Australia’s growing capabilities in manufacturing for low volume, high value niche markets will also be exhibiting alongside the bigger names. CGB Precision Products, suppliers of precision bearings for specialist manufacturing applications is one such company and will be participating in NMW for the first time in almost a decade.
CGB’s MD, Bill Lingard explains that there is growing interest in the company’s new products for extreme or extremely precise applications with their customers drawn not only from aerospace and automotive segments but also from printing, dental, automation and measurement among others. NMW provides CGB the right platform for exhibiting their products to a diverse manufacturer base.
Paul Baker, Exhibition Director, National Manufacturing Week comments that the event’s mix of large and niche exhibitors reflects an industry that has grown steadily in absolute terms over the last decade, having contributed $111BN to Australia’s economy in 2010 – 2011.
While manufacturers are operating in a tough environment, Australian industry is responding with increased productivity and innovation, which will be showcased at the NMW 2012.
Event organiser, Reed Exhibitions is confident that the show will again deliver essential networking opportunities for industry.
New features for NMW 2012 include a record 12 Product Zones including two new Product Zones focusing on Sustainable Manufacturing and Metals & Composites. The event will also include a one-day conference focusing on essential strategies, tools and methodologies for Australian manufacturers.
