Toolkit simplifies design validation

NATIONAL Instruments has announced the LabVIEW DSP Test Integration Toolkit 2.0, a LabVIEW add-on that integrates with Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio (CCStudio) Development Tools.

This toolkit simplifies debugging and validation of code executing on TI TMS320 digital signal processors (DSPs) with an executable that design engineers use to establish communication and control of data internal to DSPs in seconds.

The executable runs parallel to CCStudio and uses the real-time data exchange (RTDX) communication protocol.

Using RTDX, engineers can view and control DSP test data in real time at speeds of up to 2MB/s. Engineers typically spend hours or days programming custom applications to communicate to the DSP through RTDX.

With the LabVIEW DSP Test Integration Toolkit, engineers no longer need to program to facilitate this communication; they simply drop controls and indicators onto the executable front panel and configure the objects with a few mouse clicks.

Additionally, engineers can increase the functionality and flexibility of their systems by using RTDX VIs in LabVIEW where they can customise controls and indicators on the LabVIEW front panel and incorporate data simulation and analysis using LabVIEW.

With the latest version of the LabVIEW DSP Test Integration Toolkit, engineers also can read and write data directly to the DSP memory using LabVIEW for traditional, non real-time debugging.

By using LabVIEW, they can take advantage of advanced data visualisation capabilities for viewing waveforms, video signals, scalar values and other data.

Engineers can complete their DSP debug systems by connecting LabVIEW to a wide range of instruments including signal generators, digitisers, multimeters and more.
