NATIONAL Instruments has announced two new quiet, high-performance four-slot and eight-slot PXI chassis with reduced acoustic noise emissions for office, laboratory and educational environments.
The four-slot NI PXI-1031 chassis offers sound pressure levels as low as 40dBA (in accordance with ISO 7779 at operator position).
In comparison, a standard desktop PC has typical sound pressure levels between 36 and 40dBA.
The PXI-1031 four-slot chassis accepts both 3U PXI and CompactPCI devices and has a 300W universal ac power supply. The chassis has been HALT tested for risk-free operation up to 50°C.
The eight-slot NI PXI-1042Q chassis, a derivative of the current PXI-1042 eight-slot chassis, offers sound pressure levels as low as 43dBA (in accordance with ISO 7779 at operator position).
To achieve these quiet acoustic levels, the chassis features innovative fan control technology that optimises the speeds of both the chassis system fans and the power supply fan.
The new chassis, with an operating temperature range from 0 to 40°C, is ideally suited for temperature-controlled environments requiring low acoustic noise.
Because of their quiet operation, these new chassis are suitable for desktop design and for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing applications where loud acoustic noise can affect the accuracy of the acquired measurements.
Both chassis work with all NI and third-party PXI hardware as well as a variety of software, including NI LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, TestStand and NI Switch Executive.
