NATIONAL Instruments has announced Key Energy Services has selected the new NI Compact FieldPoint analogue I/O module for collecting oilfield data and performing embedded control on a fleet of oil well service rigs.
The FP-AIO-600 and cFP-AIO-600 analogue modules deliver a balance of four input and four output channels and an internal update rate of 1.7kHz useful for LabVIEW Real-Time advanced industrial control applications.
Key Energy contracted Advanced Measurements (AMI), a National Instruments Select Integrator, to develop a control and measurement system for a fleet of oil well service rigs, which demanded accurate timing for running a closed-loop control algorithm.
Because the cFP-AIO-600 delivers an improved internal update rate of 1.7kHz and a combination of I/O, Key Energy now can reduce instabilities causing jitter in control loops.
Using National Instruments LabVIEW Real-Time running on FieldPoint or Compact FieldPoint, Key Energy now can implement sophisticated control algorithms.
