Ruland bellows couplings for applications with high rpm

RULAND Manufacturing, represented in Australia by Naismith Engineering, offers bellows couplings that combine stainless steel bellows and aluminium hubs for highly accurate performance in motion control applications.

The properties of stainless steel bellows make them ideal for transmitting torque with a high level of torsional stiffness.

The thin walls of the bellows allow the coupling to flex easily, yet remain rigid under torsional loads. Parallel misalignment, angular misalignment and axial motion are accommodated by bellows.

The combination of aluminium hubs with the bellows results in an extremely lightweight, low inertia coupling. Since the couplings have no moving parts, zero backlash and a long, maintenance-free life are assured.

An important feature of the couplings is a balanced design to reduce vibration in high rpm applications. Applications include encoders, where the high accuracy of these couplings ensures optimal performance and servomotors, where the torque capabilities and the accuracy of these couplings are required.

The couplings are available from stock in a choice of six outside diameters from 19/32” (15mm) to 2” (50mm) in both set screw style and Nomar clamp style.

A large variety of inch and metric bore sizes from 1/8” (3mm) to 1” (25mm) is available, allowing the end user to mix and match to select the combination of bores required for the application.

Stainless steel hubs, keyways and other custom features are available by special order.

Bellows couplings are part of Ruland’s complete product line, which includes shaft collars, rigid couplings and five types of zero-backlash motion control couplings including - beam couplings, bellows couplings, Oldham couplings, miniature disc couplings and curved jaw couplings.
