EXTENSIVE market research and commitment to product development have culminated in the release of the new IMS2, digital soft starter - motor management system.
Utilising 'closed loop controlled current' technology, IMS2 soft starters from NHP, provide controlled starting, controlled stopping and advanced motor and system protection functions for industrial applications in the range of 4 to 800kW.
In addition to the expected reduction in electrical disturbance and mechanical stress, the selection of starting and stopping modes offered by the IMS2 ensures optimum performance is achieved in any application.
Several features, many of which are aimed at minimising installation costs, also make the IMS2 cost-effective, simple to install and easy to use.
These include self calibration to the supply voltage, supply frequency and motor connection method (either 3 or 6 wire), local/remote control via onboard pushbuttons, extensive fault and status indication, programmable control inputs and relay outputs and a variety of in-built timers for process control.
The IMS2 soft starter also performs a pre-start check routine to ensure all aspects of the electrical system are correct before application of power to the motor terminals.
To further reduce installation costs, the IMS2 soft starter to 132kW is provided with an IP 54 protection rating as standard. This eliminates the need to install the IMS2 within an enclosure. Simply mount the unit on the wall adjacent to the switchgear cabinet, and cable between the two.
