NHP recently took part in the 2006 Classic Adelaide Rally. Neil Williams, NHP’s State Manager for South Australia / Northern Territory and Rod Edwards, Director of Sales – Australasia, drove a 1976 MGB over five consecutive days on November 15-19th. The 1976 MGB is a classic of its kind, with a 3.7 litre fuel injected V8 engine and 250 horsepower.
A group of NHP supply line partners provided support by adding their distinctive logos to the livery of the classic MGB, including Sprecher + Schuh, Terasaki, Elettronica Santerno, WAGO, Carlo Gavazzi, Eldon, Finder, Katko and Cubic.
Since its inception in 1997, the Classic Adelaide Rally has become one of the world’s great rallies. The Classic Adelaide Rally is Australia’s foremost international tarmac rally for classic sporting vehicles, and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
Opened to selected vehicles built up to 1981, the rally is non-competitive, with a total of 34 stages covering over 250 kilometres in distance. While 300 vehicles started the event, over 50 cars did not finish due to some sizeable crashes, although no one was hurt.
As an international motoring event, previous entrants include F1 driver Stefan Johansson, Murray Walker, Sir Jack Brabham and Stirling Moss. 2006 participants included Mick Doohan, 5-time 500cc Motorbike World Champion and Vern Schuppan, winner of the Le Mans 24-Hour race in 1982, competing in this year’s event.
A memorable event enjoyed by all, and another opportunity for NHP to demonstrate its continued commitment to working in close cooperation with its supply line partners in maintaining a high level of expertise in quality products, systems and solutions.
