Enclosed visible load-break switches
NHP Electrical Engineering Products Pty Ltd has released a new range of enclosed visible load-break switches, the ESS safety range. The new enclosed isolators are designed specifically for the heavy industrial and mining market, whereby the user can clearly observe that the equipment is isolated.
The enclosure provides complete isolation of the switch and incorporates a clear window which allows inspection of the contacts, as well as identifying if they are open or closed. A mechanical flag is attached to the contact mechanism, which clearly displays the status of the switch on the front of the enclosure. Optional pilot lights can also be fitted, indicating that each phase is isolated.
To ensure safety to the operator, the enclosure door is interlocked with the switch mechanism. This means the system cannot be operated when the door is open, or the door cannot be opened when the switch is on. The standard red/yellow handle is padlockable in the off position, with up to 3 padlocks with a further option of a red aluminum handle.
The ESS range is ideal for use in harsh environments. The enclosure is made from 316 grade stainless steel, offering IP65 protection, with the option of a sloped roof version. Each switch is fitted with terminal shrouds and 2 auxiliary contacts for electrical indication. The ESS safety range is available in ratings of 50, 80, 125, 200, 400 and 630 Amps.
