NHP Electrical Engineering Products has released Tempower 2 air circuit breakers. They can be supplied with open communications protocols such as Modbus, Lonworks or Profibus. This enables the ACB to be a part of a computer-linked network covering a variety of devices being monitored and controlled from a central point.
In the case of the AR ACB, communication ability enables ACB data to be read remotely, such as fault logging, on/off status, measurement, settings and control (on/off/reset) and various maintenance related information.
Data monitoring indicates phase current, line-to-line voltage, active power, reactive power, effective electric power, power factor, and frequency indication. The fault log monitoring feature indicates the cause of a fault, (L, S or I trip), trip pick up time and fault current detection.
If the breaker is not open within approximately 300ms of a trip signal delivered from the OCR an alarm signal is generated. A self-diagnostic function monitors the CPU and peripheral circuits for normal operation.
