The boot end offered by Nepean Group ’s conveyor business has several key functions in the production of ROM coal. It is the point where the chain drive, housed in the BSL, meets the belted portion of the maingate conveyor. It houses the tail pulley of the maingate conveyor and provides the belt with the facility to align itself with the rest of the conveyor outbye. Using a series of hydraulically-powered jacks, the Longwall boot end has several degrees of freedom to provide accurate alignment abilities.
The Longwall boot end also provides a working platform, such that the conveyor structure can be removed without interrupting the maingate belt drive. The aim of the working platform is to provide no stoppages during conveyor structure removal. It is also operational without the platform attachment, and can be used in the conventional structure by structure removal as done previously with prior boot end assemblies.
