NEC Electronics Corporation and are to collaborate on Enhanced Real Time Ethernet controller (ERTEC) products used in the Profinet industrial Ethernet standard.
Being developed by Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D), and manufactured by NEC Electronics, the controllers will be marketed through the worldwide sales and distribution channels of Siemens and NEC Electronics.
The new Ertec200 and Ertec400 Ethernet controllers employ ARM9 processors and support the Profinet IRT protocol, enabling isochronous real-time (IRT) communication and fast data transmission (100 megabits per second) for automation and plant floor integration applications.
The 400 has an integrated 4-port Ethernet switch tailored to the power requirements of motion control systems, while the 200 is a low-cost controller with integrated 2-port switch designed primarily for drives or comparable products.
