Momentum , providers of energy tailored solutions, were invited to speak at the Melbourne Business Network’s Supper Club Series. The focus of the event was about the role of mentoring and coaching in the development of a future leader in businesses.
The Melbourne Business Network (MBN) are an influential association and business forum working towards promoting historic and corporate identities in Australian cities. Many young businesses leaders had attended the event, which had also featured Rod Curtis, Director from Twenty20 Communications.
Natalie Davies, Momentum Marketing Manager was invited to speak with Rod Curtis about their mentoring and coaching knowledge and experiences. The pair discussed their views on the difference between mentoring and coaching, as well as provided some anecdotal advice and suggested actions to the audience of young business individuals.
"When I first got involved with Natalie I was coaching her on how to handle presentations to management groups and the board and coaching her on how to build and maintain a strong bond between marketing and other departments," says Curtis about his coaching experiences with Davies.
"Basically my role now is to coach her through the numerous issues that arise from day to day when carrying out her functions as marketing manager." Davies shared the importance in having guidance from someone who truly understood what is required to reach out to customers and effectively communicate with work colleagues.
"More than anything, Rod's coaching has helped me develop a greater awareness of how I interact with my colleagues and how they understand me - or NOT understand me, more specifically," explains Davies.
"And it's been great to have somebody to bounce ideas around with."
