The Mining and Resource Contractors Safety Training Association (MARCSTA) was incorporated in 1996 as a non-profit Registered Training Organisation providing low cost, comprehensive safety and health inductions for organisations that contract to the mining industry, and industry in general.

MARCSTA defines its mission as "to be acknowledged as the standard setter in the provision of safety and health related training to the resources and associated industries."

To achieve this, the Association has outlined a number of objectives. These are:
  • to develop and implement safety and health training programs for the resources and all other industry sectors
  • to promote improvements in safety and health standards in the workplace.
  • to monitor the changing safety and training needs of employers in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements; and
  • to encourage excellence in the delivery of safety and health training in the workplace.
MARCSTA operates under the direction of a Management Committee, and reinvests all proceeds generated in OHS training programs which meet the requirements for national accreditation for most major industry sectors. At a service level, the Association has a dedicated and capable team of licensed training providers.
