Minemax has introduced an all-new advanced optimisation course for strategic schedule optimisation.
The current mining environment demands improved mining processes to optimise the value of operations. Optimisation and scheduling solutions provider, Minemax has collaborated with long term and strategic mine planners to build a course that covers topics seen to offer the greatest benefits for current operations and prospective projects.
Designed with inputs from the mining industry, and a focus on practical exercises, the course aims to increase the competency of trainees in developing efficient and appropriate schedule optimisation models for their organisation.
The course uses Minemax Scheduler software, which sets the benchmark for strategic schedule optimisation at mid-to-large-size mining companies worldwide.
Minemax Principal Consultant Brian Lambert comments that engineers understand their company's business objectives; on completion of the course, they will be able to build a schedule optimisation model that best aligns with those business requirements.
Minemax’s new advanced optimisation course has three main areas of competency development: Effective use of decision trees; Capex modelling for infrastructure optimisation; and Waste dump modelling for simultaneous pit and waste dump schedule optimisation.
Examples of modelling scenarios include: Process options for material to be upgraded at an extra cost before final processing; Haulage requirements when modelling multiple pits with multiple dedicated trucking fleets; Fixed costs associated with operational processes; Regional projects with shared infrastructure of finite capacity; Detailed waste dump sequencing for fixed or variable cut-off grade, and single or multiple waste dumps; Capacity expansion of material transformation processes such as autoclaves; Decisions and timing for new pushbacks requiring additional capital expenditure; Truck purchases over time considering truck life and productivity degradation.
The Advanced Optimisation Course is available from September at both the Minemax Perth and Minemax Denver training centres.
