Vacuum Handling
Millsom Materials Handling are able to offer the complete range of Schmalz vacuum components which incorporates everything in vacuum materials handling. Schmalz Vacuum Products are divided into the following categories:

Suction Pads

Suction pads are used wherever objects need to be lifted, transported, turned or handled in some manner.
They are the connecting element between the vacuum generator and the workpiece.
As the technical and physical requirements varies greatly between the workpieces, a large range of suction pads needs to be available to help provide the best handling solution.
Schmalz have hundreds of different shapes and sizes and materials to choose from.

Mounting Elements
Schmalz mounting elements are used to hold the suction pads to a support frame or robot spider. Items include:

Flexible Couplings
Height Compensating Spring Plungers
Support Brackets and Clamps

Vacuum Generators

The heart of a vacuum system, the vacuum generator produces the vacuum to handle the workpiece.
Typical working vacuum levels range from -45 kPa to -85 kPa, depending on the pump type and size.
The range of generators have capacities ranging from as low as 7 litres/min up to 9000 litres/min.
Many of the venturi type generators have air saving capabilities, and have integrated adjustable control valves, ready to be connected to a PLC.

Valve Technology
Vacuum valves (which can be different to standard pneumatic valves) are used to control the vacuum to help improve the process of handling the workpiece. If it's either a single suction pad, or the whole system that needs to be controlled, there is a Schmalz valve for the task.

Valves can be either solenoid controlled, manually controlled, or can be actuated by the workpiece itself. They can be used to speed up the process and to guarantee the safety of the system.

System Monitoring
Devices for system monitoring are used to safely and efficiently control a vacuum system. Schmalz offers a complete range of vacuum and pressure sensors from simple dial gauges to dual output digital and analogue switches, which have adjustable hysteresis and programmable LED displays.

These sensors can be used as a part presence signal for the PLC, or can be used as an integral part of an energy saving module (turning the pump off once vacuum level has been reached).

Filters and Connectors
All of the other accessories associated with a vacuum system, including reinforced vacuum hose, hose clamps, hose barbs, filters, and manifolds are included in this category. Vacuum hoses up to 75mm in diameter which can withstand a vacuum level of -95 kPa are available.
