MILFORD Astor Pty Ltd has made a dramatic improvement to its steel plate etching technique for steel pad printing plates. The process is far more environmentally-friendly and the quality and consistency of the plate is considered by some printers to be better than the best produced anywhere in the world.
In Milford Astor's development of the process they have found that they can achieve a consistent etch at 300 lines per inch and can control dot density in excess of 12-90%.
This now enables pad printers to achieve half-tone images on products such as plastic mouldings and golf balls like never before.
Milford Astor has agreed to provide this quality product in 0.25 and 0.5mm steel plate in a wide range of sizes. Customers have the choice of having the plates etched on one or both sides.
Development work is now taking place on 10mm plates. Orders received with approved artwork to specification before 12 noon will be dispatched overnight to anywhere in Australasia.
The development has also coincided with the acquisition of a high resolution image setter to ensure the film has the detail and density required to meet the demanding standards of this new plate.
Testing of Marabu inks and Milford Astor's range of pads has found complete compatibility with the new plate which will be known in the industry as Eco 300.
