BANNER Engineering, represented by Micromax , has announced a new "heavy-duty" addition to its extensive Mini-Screen family of light screen machine guarding sensors, and new controllers with trip or latch functionality.
Mini-Screen heavy-duty light screens are constructed of ruggedised yet lightweight highly-visible yellow aluminum and are highly-resistant to industrial abuse and impact.
Emitters and receivers are available in seven lengths up to 1829mm. Also significant, is the long-range capability of this system, up to 18m with a minimum object sensitivity of 38mm.
Two systems may be used end-to-end horizontally to guard extremely large areas up to 720 square feet (12' x 60').
Mini-Screen heavy-duty light screens feature a wide range of flexible installation options. The standard brackets and hardware included, may be attached to the mounting channel on either side of the housing or to the end caps and allow ±30° rotation for alignment.
Three additional mounting options include a "stand-mount" for mounting to an MSA series stand or used with a U-bolt and attached to a round stand, "swivel" brackets which allow up to 180° rotation and "adjustable" brackets which mount to the top and bottom of the housing and allow the space between the sensor and its mounting surface to be increased or decreased.
New MSC control boxes can be configured for Trip Output (automatic reset) or Latch Output (monitored manual reset) via a pair of DIP switches.
All available MSC control boxes feature three system status indicating LEDs visible through a window in the control box cover.
Banner controllers feature a diverse-redundant microprocessor design with two completely unique sets of operating instructions to ensure any possibility of failure will result in a safe mode only.
Any emitter and receiver of equal length can be used with any controller, and the controller automatically adjusts itself to the length of the emitter and receiver without setting DIP switches.
Alignment of emitters and receivers is simplified with Banner's exclusive system of indicator LEDs that flash at a rate proportional to the number of beams completed, identifying when perfect alignment is achieved and if the system gets out of proper alignment.
Receivers have three coloured LED indicators for system operating status and alignment. Emitters have power ON indicators. Each has three sets of LEDs located on the front and both sides for high visibility.
Wiring is also simplified with quick-disconnect cables that connect to the emitter and receiver. These quick disconnect cables that are sold separately, feature colour-coded wires and terminals that make wiring to the control box equally easy.
Mini-Screen heavy-duty light screens are immune to EMI and RFI interference and unaffected by strobe lights, with ambient light immunity greater than 10,000 lux at a 5 degree angle of incidence.
The Mini-Screen family is certified to IEC 61496-1/-2 type 4 requirements.
