Global standards such as GLP and ISO 8655-6 require pipette testing at defined intervals, making it imperative for lab workers to ensure proper functioning of their pipettes.

The NewClassic MS semi-micro balances can easily be converted from regular laboratory balances to conduct quick pipette checks for pipette accuracy without requiring another instrument while eliminating small pipetting errors and costly rework.

The NewClassic MS semi-micro balances now combine weighing and pipette accuracy checks in the same easy-to-use instrument for reliable, reproducible results.

As minute quantities cannot be measured directly, ISO 8655-6 recommends distilled water for gravimetric capacity meter calibration. Distilled water is pipetted onto the balance and converted to a volumetric value. A built-in application guides users through the check process wherein systematic and random pipette errors are automatically calculated in absolute and relative values. Displayed results can be printed for traceability or for easy and quick comparison with the manufacturer’s tolerances.

Part of the NewClassic MS range, the MS105 semi-micro balance converts easily from a laboratory balance with 0.01 mg readability to a standalone pipette check-station, with an evaporation trap the only external device needed if the pipetting volume is smaller than 50 μg. The trap keeps humidity levels stable during the check, thus minimising evaporation for accurate testing.
