Metso has supplied the world's largest cone crushers to the Sentinel project in Zambia.
It has been awarded a contract to supply two MP2500 cone crushers to First Quantum Minerals subsidiary Kalumbila Minerals' operations in north west Zambia.
The processing facility, where the cone crushers will be installed, have a target throughput rage of 55mtpa of ore with an expected annual production rate of between 270 000 and 300 000 tonnes of copper.
They will operate as part of the secondary crushing circuit to maintain mill throughput to offset harder ores found in the deeper section of the put.
The crushers will treat a portion of the ore feeding the stockpile, crushing the top size to below 40 millimetres.
According to Metso building the world's largest cone crushers required seriously innovative thinking as well as working closely with First Quantum to make sure the solution helped the project fully.
They will be delivered in the first half of next year.
It is six metres high, six half meters in diameters, and weighs 465 tonne.
Called an MP2500 is because it has 2500 HP.
