Two new Lokotrack mobile screens have been unveiled by Metso Minerals during a major product launch in Spain. Called the Lokotrack ST358 and ST458, they are two-and-three decked mobile units that are suitable for screening applications, where high-capacity, accuracy and mobility are required. Both models benefit from Metso’s SmartScreen technology.
The Lokotrack ST358 (two deck) and ST458 (three deck) are equipped with large 5.4x1.5 m screens. The screen area per deck is 7.9 m2 (85 ft2) and the end-to-end crowning of the two-bearing screen boxes enables a high performance screening result. This is further enhanced by the screens’ ability to use both forward and reverse movements.
Both new units feature SmartScreen technology; a system that utilises the computing power of Metso’s IC300 intelligent controlling system. SmartScreen senses the load on the main conveyor and monitors screen functions; automatically adjusting key parameters such as feeding and screening speeds when necessary. This ability to control in real-time the screens’ functions results in continuous, high quality, high capacity screening.
One-touch operation
For the operator, the Lokotrack ST358 and ST458 are both convenient and easy to use. The whole screening process can be started by pressing just one button. And if a problem exists, the IC300 intelligent controlling system has an easy-to-understand diagnostic feature that leads the operator easily to the source of the malfunction.
If needed, the ST358 and ST458 can both be connected to Metso’s Lokotrack LT Series of mobile crushing plants via an interlocking cable. This further demonstrates the level of automation of the crushing and screening process that is possible using Metso systems.
The new models are mounted on heavy duty tracks that, in conjunction with their substantial weight, help ensure both good on-site mobility and stable operation, even in difficult site conditions. Conveyor capacity has been increased over previous models, and the width of the discharge conveyors is now 1.200 mm. The side conveyors are also increased, up to 800 mm for improved capacity. The conveyors integrated nature also enables fast setup.
The ST358’s and ST458´s 4.5 m wide feed hoppers have a capacity of 7.5 m3 and are easy to detach due to their cassette-style structure. With a hopper loading height of 3.3 m, the machine’s power pack is a robust, liquid-cooled 110 kW Deutz diesel engine.
Both new mobile screens are easy to transport on a normal trailer without traffic restrictions. (Transport dimensions are 3.3 m (height), 3 m (width) and 17.9 m (length.) Options include radio controlled operation, maintenance platforms, chute liners and a dust-absorbing system.
The ST358 and ST458 were recently launched in front of an audience of over 700 international visitors in a working quarry in Spain. Featuring customers, dealers and journalists, the abilities of Metso’s Lokotrack range of mobile screens and mobile crushing plants were demonstrated working in different real-world applications.
