Secure Communication Systems has recently released Pyxis Tablet workstation which is a rugged lightweight portable workstation that provides the high performance Windows XP Operating System in a configuration optimised for wearable or vehicle mounted ground requirements.
The Pyxis is constructed using a two piece light weight aluminum alloy chassis. The workstation has been designed to meet the environmental requirements necessary to operate reliably in severe tactical field and flight line applications.
The Pyxis Workstation is powered by Transmeta Crusoe 5800 Processor. The CPU runs at 800 MHz and supports up to 640 MB of on board RAM, while operating at lower power.
The Pyxis is equipped with an internal hard disk drive supplying up to 30GB storage capacity employing the new inherently rugged and low power 1.8” drives.
Other features of the Pyxis include:
- Fast Video Processor with 8MB of Video RAM separate from system memory
- 6.4” Diagonal touch panel LCD that is sunlight readable and dimmable for night vision
- Optional Bumpers to prevent workstation damage in rugged applications
- Other Options include: Internal GPS; PCMCIA Type III or 2 x Type II; configurable I/O panel; 28 VDC input; internal battery
