As an ISO9001-2008 accredited, AS9100 compliant, ANSI-Z540 certified, and ISO 17025 A2LA approved design and manufacturing house, FUTEK possesses the capabilities needed to develop load cells, torque sensors, and multi-axial sensors for cryogenic and vacuum environments.
NASA, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, MIT, and JPL have brought FUTEK onboard for several ventures that are truly “out-of-this-world.” Whether the environment is Earth, Mars or in space, FUTEK has developed the technologies to withstand this.
A good example being where two cryogenic sensors to operate aboard the Curiosity Rover were designed and developed by FUTEK who were in turn commissioned by NASA to action this.
With a donut load cell directly operating within curiosity's drilling arm, it stands responsible to monitor the drill bit's force as it pierces into alien ground. The second sensor of FUTEK’s is a multi-axial load and torque sensor which takes the responsibility for the manoeuvres that the robotic drilling arm makes.
