SBS Technologies, represented by Metromatics , has introduced Olympus, a versatile high-performance 6U CompactPCI single board computer with PowerPC 750FX processor and an advanced design that reduces traffic through the local PCI bridge and maximises memory bandwidth.
Olympus features up to four gigabit Ethernet ports, two on the front panel and two PICMG 2.16 backplane node connections, allowing for more design flexibility.
Ideal for advanced routing applications such as core routers and edge access devices, Olympus is optimised for high-speed data processing from several interfaces.
Olympus supports up to 320MB of flash memory: 256MB of NAND flash drive, and 64MB of soldered bulk flash. It also complies with the latest industry standards and used advanced components such as the IBM 750FX processor and Discovery GT-64260 system controller.
The 750FX operates internally from 600MHz up to 1GHz. The external bus interface is 64 bits wide and operates at 133MHz for maximising data processing bandwidth.
The packet switching backplane support allows the user to take advantage of the benefits of LAN in an embedded system, including high availability and high bandwidth. Dedicated 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet ports provide this functionality.
Olympus is capable of hosing up to two PMC/PPMC modules. The PMC interfaces can operate in 32 or 64 bit mode at 33 or 66MHz and can be used in redundant and load sharing applications.
Olympus can act as a CompactPCI system controller or as an intelligent peripheral device. IPMI is also supported through PICMG 2.9 compliance.
