Leading logistics company Fastline was looking for a warehouse storage system to double its capacity without shutting down production or moving to larger premises.

This was accomplished with careful planning and know how provided by Metalsistem Australia .

Fastline was established in 1979 and, with rapid growth, needed to expand and squeeze more space out of its large Melbourne distribution centre.

Fastline distributes fashion garments and shoes for companies such as Diana Ferrari, JAG and Gloweave.

Fastline choose Metalsistem as their preferred supplier to provide a mezzanine system that could be assembled whilst the normal day to day business still operated, causing minimal interruptions to their order processing.

Metalsistem's mezzanine system needed to be constructed over their existing longspan shelving. Metalsistem's Super 6 mezzanine system was the ideal choice which included Super 123 boltless shelving to be constructed on the mezzanine floor.

The Super 6 mezzanine floor can be erected over existing structures with ease due to its unique upright characteristics.

Metalsistem was able to provide a more economical option compared to other systems available in the market, with pallet racking generally being the chosen option but not always being suitable.

Once the second tier and flooring were completed, the Super 123 shelving system was erected and provided an extra 500 bays for storage of goods which are fed from the ground floor via a conveyor system.

The Super 123 is a modular, high load bearing and easy to assemble boltless shelving system. To achieve such high load specifications in a mezzanine structure, Metalsistem's engineers designed the frames upright section with a closed box section profile. This is considered to be a safer option with enhanced integrity and the ability to sustain higher loads.
