In this video from Safety in Action 2013 Ferret.com.au talks with Mayo Hardware Senior Territory Manager Gary Lee about two new products the company is introducing into the Australian market: confined space entry covers and MasterLock aviation lockouts.
Gary notes that Mayo Hardware's new confined space entry covers are the first development of this kind available in Australia. Currently, many companies simply put tape across entries to confined spaces to prevent unauthorised access. Further these spaces can be quite dangerous, often containing hazardous gases that can seriously affect the health of workers entering the area to perform work.
Mayo Hardware has addressed both these problems with its new confined space entry covers. These lockable covers are designed to completely cover an opening and feature a ventilated front cover to prevent dangerous gases from accumulating. Signs placed on the cover are removable, and room is provided for a gas detector to be positioned at the entry. In addition, as the covers are lockable they can easily fit into an isolation program with lock and tag.
Another new addition to the Australian market, Master Lock aviation lockouts were designed to suit the unique circuit breakers and power receptors used in the aviation industry. These custom locks can effectively isolate these outlets on aircraft, reducing the risk of injury to maintenance workers by preventing accidental powering up of things like propellers while the workers are in the area.
Simple to use, these aviation lockouts can also work with an existing isolation program. Different models are available for circuit breakers and power receptors, both of which are easy to use and verify secure attachment.
