ADVANCED Sheetmetal Technologies has obtained the distribution rights in Australia and New Zealand for the AutoPOL suite of software products - including the most recent introduction to the family, AutoPOL Bend Simulator for Windows.

Bend Simulator for Windows accompanies AutoPOL Piper for Windows, AutoPOL Unfolder for Windows and AutoPOL Designer for Windows.

These windows-based programs facilitate product design right across the industry spectrum in a digital rather than physical environment, therefore saving users the expense of raw materials and development costs.

Industries include heating and air conditioning, food, sheetmetal fabrication, chemical, energy, water, waste and sewerage, laboratory and pharmaceutical.

AutoPOL Bend Simulator for Windows includes functionality for complete process from draft or existing CAD model to NC code for press brake.

For cutting and punching, configured DXF data is exported to respective machine type. Because the bend simulation is based on the same 3D kernel as other AutoPOL modules, new models can be built directly and according to selected press brake tools and can be simulated in the same software environment.

The simulator provides bend sequencing, collision detect, advanced back gauge and front support positioning, real time visualisation, user-friendly tool definition interface, automatic tool set-up, NC code for press brakes and Bend process documentation in PDF format.

It simplifies prospective modifications of a model and can be affected at an early stage of the design process.

With modern user interface and based on modern 3D technique, AutoPOL Bend Simulator is a very powerful and user-friendly tool, a universal platform for computer based production technology within the sheetmetal industry.

Users don't have to swap among different software environments to create production data. The simulation work is always integrated with design and unfolding.

AutoPOL Piper for Windows is a 3D design tool used to create parts such as transitions, Y- and T-pieces, eccentric cones, elbows and similar shapes for the offshore, power plant, HVAC and process industries.

It simplifies the design process by allowing all parts to be created automatically from dialogue boxes merely by entering the model dimensions.

The software has found applications in industries producing equipment for heating and air-conditioning, laboratories, process and chemical plants, food handling, water supply and sewage systems.

AutoPOL Piper for Windows can be used as stand-alone or together with any CAD software through SAT exports of the 3D model. Direct links are provided for data exchange to inventor and SolidWorks.

It generates unfolded 2D flat patterns of the model. Output data is available as configured dxf files for plasma, laser water-jet cutting or punch press tooling machines. Bend lines and angles for press brake bending can be included.

The software is based on the latest ACIS 3D Geometric modeler and technology developed by FCC Software AB.

A modern and intuitive user interface is extremely easy to learn and use. Parts are designed through dialogue boxes by allowing the user to enter parameters for the part, and a 3D solid model is automatically created. The dimensioned 3D model can be printed and used as documentation for the manufacturing process.

All shapes are created as CAD models with manufacturing methods in mind. This means surfaces are always defined in the best possible way for sheetmetal forming.

AutoPOL Piper for Windows generates 2D flat patterns from the complex curves in 3D models. The 2D flat pattern can be exported in dxf format when these curves are automatically converted into basic arc and line drawing entities. This ensures acceptable geometry in CAM applications for cutting and punching.

AutoPOL Unfolder for Windows is an application for the sheetmetal industry that will unfold 3D models. Based on the ACIS 3D Geometric modeler, and technology developed by FCC Software, AutoPOL allows all kinds of single curved models to be unfolded.

The imported 3D model can either be a solid or surfaces. AutoPOL Unfolder generates a flat pattern from even the most complex geometry, easily and efficiently. K-factor bend compensation can be applied to create an accurate flat pattern.

AutoPOL Unfolder is applicable to sheetmetal models found within many industries including heating and air-conditioning, laboratory and pharmaceutical equipment, process and chemical, food handling, water supply and sewage as well as vehicle and machinery production.

For importing and exporting, its intuitive user interface is easy to learn and use. 3D models saved in STEP or sat format can be imported. The resulting flat patterns can be exported as dxf, STEP or sat files.

AutoPOL Unfolder’s features include:

* Manual selection of faces to create partial flat patterns from solid/surface models

* Unfolding of closed 3D solid/surface models. Location of the welding joint can be selected

* Configurable output when exporting unfolded geometry's as dxf files, plus line types and colours can be selected and bend angles can be included

* 2D-drawing views of the imported 3D model are exported as dxf files.

AutoPOL Designer for Windows is a parametric design tool for the sheetmetal industry that creates 3D CAD models of sheetmetal parts such as brackets, boxes, holders, racks and other similar equipment. Based on the ACIS 3D Geometric modeler and technology developed by FCC Software, its part modeling is full parametric.

All dimensions can be edited at any time and the model is updated instantly. Cooperation with leading suppliers of machine equipment has influenced the product significantly. Support for machine specific tool lists are present and allows the use of correct dimensions at the start of the modeling phase, such as when creating designs with specific bend radii.

In AutoPOL Designer it is even possible to work in 2D flat pattern and 3D model mode at the same time. The 3D model can be exported to other CAD systems as sat or STEP files, and the 2D flat pattern in dxf file format.

Associativity between 3D models and 2D flat pattern allows simultaneous work in both modes.

Selection of press brake tools for bend radii allows the use of correct dimensions in the modeling phase. Flanges can be created using different positioning options. Automatic bend reliefs can be added and flange alignments can be selected.

Work with construction lines and create relations between these lines, holes and edges. Edit dimensions and co-ordinates via dialogue boxes or stretch the model by using 'click-and-drag'.
