A leading producer of top-end products for the entertainment industry is demonstrating the significance of a new generation compact sheetmetal machine.
Jands replaced a nine year old standalone FINN-POWER punch/press unit with the new FINN-POWER C5 Compact Express, distributed exclusively in Australia and New Zealand by Advanced Sheetmetal Technologies .
The space-efficient punching and pressing machine is performing in a single corner of the plant – sometimes totally unmanned.
Operators can sharpen vital machine tools while the C5 is taking care of production, the factory is therefore always running production with sharper tooling.
This leads to better quality of finished product and less problems with slug pulls, providing better overall job productivity.
The Jands metalwork section runs two shifts per day and produces panels and sections for its own brand lighting consoles, dimmer racks, power distribution systems, patching systems, and whatever items may be needed for the theatre and entertainment industry.
The company is positioned as a short run specialist, with metal fabrication for OEM\ODM customers now a signature of the company for anything from custom panels to a complete studio fitout.
FINN-POWER's C5 Compact Express is a 300kN super fast, fully adjustable turret punch press series for sheet metal fabrication.
It has a super fast servo hydraulic punching system tool indexing system and turret construction, automatic clamp setting and moving, easy ergonomic sheet loading and unloading, Catch and Carry work chute, powerful NC control and graphic user interface, indexable upforming and outstanding accuracy.
The unit can also be supplied with or retrofitted with the C5 Compact Express Automatic Sheet Load/Unload System for rapid load/unload cycles and uninterrupted work schedules.
Nibbling speed on 1mm centres is 1,100 hits per minute, provided by a servo controlled ram, stroke speed and position which are fully adjustable in both directions.
The servo hydraulic punching system automates overload protection and provides the greatest flexibility for all kinds of punching, forming and special applications.
Other benefits include the availability of different punching modes (punch, slow punch, soft punch, down-forming and marking).
As many as 10 index stations can be installed in the C5 for minimum set up times and a fast, flexible and efficient fabrication process.
With its CNC Index tool system based on a single AC servomotor, the punch and die are mechanically engaged and disengaged.
Tool rotation can be programmed in 0.001º increments and throughout 360º rotation. A shorter path to the desired angle is automatically selected by the system.
Full tonnage can be used in any index station with any tool size and at maximum material thickness.
The unit also provides:
* Customer specific turret layout, many indexing stations
* A multi tool station allow up to 150 tools on the turret
* Automatic clamp settings by positioning sheet clamps individually
* Dead zones that can also be completely eliminated with an optional third clamp
* Programmable 'clamp move' function.
* Sheet loading that takes place with a simple push and always close to the table edge
* Unloading of processed components is semi-automatic.
