Spring plungers from Maxiloc Tooling Pty Ltd, also known as ‘spring loaded devices’ (SLD) or ‘ball catches’ are devices featuring an enclosed spring within a threaded capsule similar to a grub screw with a spring-loaded ball on the end.
Tool engineers often use spring plungers in tools in order to save on time and labour. Spring plungers serve this function because they guarantee positive and controlled spring tension when they are used in dies, fixtures, assemblies and jigs.
Spring plungers also provide accurate spring end force, which helps push through a ball or rounded nose within a tool or piece of equipment. This makes it possible for a tool or piece of equipment to perform more efficiently.
Spring plungers are available in many different forms, materials and sizes ranging from standard ball end and pin type in steel, stainless steel and plastic to lateral and long series versions.
Kipp spring plungers are also available in ‘Long-Lok’, the most advanced locking thread mechanism.
The integrated Long-Lok thread lock secures spring plungers rationally and economically preventing loosening or falling out after impact, knocks or vibrations.
As the Long-Lok is integrated into the spring plungers, there is no requirement for additional components such as circlips, spring washers or locking bolts saving valuable assembly time.
