There have also been some interesting technology developments enabling bar codes, and other traceability codes, to be placed on primary and secondary packaging using laser technology.
Both of these issues will be covered in a free seminar, exclusively at Auspack, to bring you up to date on these developments, with overseas speakers who are experts in their fields.
Rick Fox, CEO of FOX IV Technologies, will update you on the successes and challenges of various RFID implementations in the US. RFID technology has been seen in some circles as a panacea to troubled supply chains.
While explaining RFID’s benefits, perhaps controversially, Rick will also make a case for retaining bar codes in many traceability applications. Rick's insights come from both as a solution provider for various implementations, including Wal-Mart, and his formal involvement with GS1 USA.
Laser-reactive materials have the potential to significantly change, for the better, how packaging is bar coded and coded on your production lines. Trevor Wilson, of Datalase in the UK, will outline how the new developments can be used effectively.
