David Alexander joins Matthews Intelligent Identification

Based in Brisbane, David has responsibility for sales staff coaching and training, as well as investigating new industries and developing new markets.

David's vast sales experience has taken him to three countries, across two continents. Twice he has worked with highly successful companies when they were just fledglings, moving from being their only, or second, salesman into overseeing roles as they grew and the business accelerated.

These include Linx, in the UK (for which Matthews is the exclusive Australian distributor) and Reynolds Group in NZ, which was bought out in 2003.

David comments that there were some established players in the market, but Linx had a new and innovative product, which was readily received.

After nearly eight years with Linx, David accepted a challenge of taking Reynolds Group from a small start-up to number one in every sector of the market, and employing some 30 people.

Jumping The Ditch after nine years, the coach of junior cricket and soccer spent 18 months with a packaging consumables firm in Queensland, before the lure of working with capital equipment saw him join Matthews.

David comments that he is looking forward to leveraging his experience in industries where Matthews is not involved, as he sees good applications for both the equipment Matthews represents and the technical skills of its staff.

Reynolds Group was the Linx agent for NZ and they also represent the products Matthews represents in Australia. This means David can move into this market with a lot of application and equipment experience from the UK and NZ.

According to Matthew, David's appointment was a coup for Matthews and follows their recent appointment in NSW of laser specialist, Darryl Ham.

David's experience and success are evident in the success of the companies he's worked with. Matthew’s team, nationwide, is excited by the prospect of working with him, to grow and accentuate their skills and work with new industries.
