MATTHEWS Intelligent Identification has released the Linx 6800 Swift high-speed continuous inkjet (CIJ) printer.

It is a variant of the Linx Mark 7 print-head, combined with the power and reliability of the Linx 6800 printer. The mini print-head uses a narrow font that creates small printed characters, reducing the code's length while providing excellent code quality. This means codes as small as 1.4mm in height can be produced. This is suitable for confined spaces such as bottle tops and necks, small pharmaceutical or cosmetics packages and automotive or electronic components. Character height ranges up to 6.7mm.

The ability to print smaller two-line codes at speeds as fast as 2.93m/s means the printer is suitable for a range of very fast production lines, including those used for bottling, canning and cabling. The short flight path between the print-head and product allows it to code very precisely, even on small and awkward surfaces. Because the Swift print-head uses small drops it uses less ink per printed drop. The smaller print size also means more products can be coded per second.

The Linx 6800 Swift can produce a range of bar codes, while sequential message fields include ITF, Code 39, Code 128 and UPC-A. It can print upper and lower case characters in both fixed and variable text, as well as graphics and logos, and has a bold factor of up to 10 times.

It is also capable of message creation or editing while printing. It has real time clock functions, an automatic date-forward function and is capable of batch coding and counting. Remote communications interface and PC Communications Manager software make it user friendly.

It incorporates a solenoid valve system, designed to minimise the need for print-head cleaning, ensuring a clean and reliable start and stop to coding. A temperature sensor built into the print-head enables the printer to adjust to a wide range of temperature variations.

It has either an IP55 or IP65 enclosure for good performance in wet and dusty environments. No dirt traps ensure the printer is easy to wash down. It does not need filtered factory air.
