Recently a number of power stations in NSW have committed to trialling brand new LED Hi-Bay light fixtures for use in different areas.
The light fixtures are known as the Safe Site Series and are manufactured by Dialight in the USA and supplied locally in Australian and New Zealand by Maser Communications .
The Safe Site Series are designed to replace existing 75-250 watt Mercury Vapor Hi-Bay Area lights utilising Hi Flux LEDs. Users of LEDs can reduce their energy consumption by up to 90% from traditional incandescent fittings.
The NSW power industry has been looking at ways to not only reduce their own energy consumption but also their maintenance costs.
With an average life of around 100,000 steady burn hours, the Safe Site Series can afford huge savings in maintenance areas such as scaffolding, sizzer lift and cherry picker hire not to mention the reduction in OH&S injuries.
LEDs also allow instant on/off which means they can be hooked up to standard PIR motion sensors for gantries, walk ways, coal feeders, workshops, generator halls, and battery rooms.
