Markem-Imaje 4020 inkjet, newest printer in the Markem-Imaje drop-on- demand, large character inkjet carton coder series, has replaced the Crayon X-tra. It stands in an intermediate position, between the simple Crayon Plus coder and the high-resolution Markem-Imaje 4040 inkjet printer.
Martin Dijkstra, product manager for large character coders for the Markem-Imaje Group, explains: “This new coder was designed to incorporate the acknowledged user-friendliness of Crayon Plus and to provide improved coding, printing capabilities, flexibility and connectivity. The Markem-Imaje 4020 coder features a wide-screen backlit graphic display, intuitive icons and local language menus – everything you need for an easy, everyday coding use.
Performance-wise, the Markem-Imaje 4020 carton coder can control up to 4 print heads to simultaneously print several lines of text on cartons – top, bottom and sides. The Markem-Imaje 4020 coder’s extended connection capacities allow for high-speed connectivity and easy network integration. 30-litre ink barrels ensure maximum operation time and reduce downtime.
Differentiating Features
In addition to Crayon Plus’ well known ease of use characteristic, Markem-Imaje 4020 offers extended coding and printing capabilities, as well as connectivity.
Simplicity : easy, fast message selection, logical navigation through local language menus, backlit screen with 240*64 display, QWERTY membrane keyboard, automatic print head detection, low ink level indicator, operator guide for parameter changes, etc.
Flexibility: up to 4 print heads per controller, adjustable print height from 8 to 64 mm, ability to print a wide range of characters (more than 22,000 Unicode characters available) and marking distance up to 20 mm.
Connectivity: Ethernet and 2 high-speed RS-232 ports, alarm output, low-level ink indicator, ActiveX component for easy integration, FTP server for easy back-up and file transfer.
