LeanSkills

The LeanSkills program offers a range of options for small, medium and large businesses who want - or need - to go Lean, focusing on how to make it happen and keep it happening.

Everyone is under pressure to achieve more without increasing costs. Common sense tells us that identifying and eliminating waste is a critical factor. Measuring those achievements and continuing to improve should be an ongoing strategy.

This means ‘Lean’ – a systematic approach to eliminating waste and continually improving. It can be that simple! It doesn’t have to be complicated or full of jargon and it doesn’t require a degree in statistics.

LeanSkills For Planning and Doing
Whether you are researching the best place to focus your investment, developing your business case or are ready to plan out your program LeanSkills will help you get started.

The program focuses on:

  • Understanding when and where to use key Lean Tools
  • Developing your Lean strategy and planning your Lean program
  • Identifying where to target your improvements
  • How to manage culture change to achieve ongoing improvements
  • How to measure improvements and Return on Investment
  • Problem solving skills
  • Practical skills in key Lean tools for you and your team

Public seminars
The LeanSkills program offers a series of public seminars covering the essential concepts and skills for senior managers, middle managers, supervisors and team leaders to be able to plan, cost, communicate, lead and implement your Lean strategy. The following seminars will be held in most capital cities:

  • Lean Essentials for Managers
  • Value Stream Mapping (VSM) intensive
  • 5S intensive
  • Kaizen intensive
  • Root cause analysis (RCA) intensive

Customised On Site Programs
The LeanSkills program can also be delivered on site for your team – targeting your business goals and customised to the Lean tools and improvement areas you prefer.
The on site program can also be supported with mentoring and coaching of your team, and ongoing advice on how to plan and implement your Lean activities.

Competitive Manufacturing qualifications
LeanSkills aligns to selected units of competency from the nationally recognised Competitive Manufacturing qualifications. Depending on your choice of seminars and what you implement in your Lean strategy you may choose to undertake a competency assessment which could lead to the achievement of one or more of the following units of competency:

  • MSACMS600A Develop a competitive manufacturing system
  • MSACMS606A Introduce competitive manufacturing to a small or medium enterprise
  • MSACMS601A Analyse and map a value chain
  • MSACMT640A Manage 5S system in a manufacturing environment
  • MSACMT641A Implement a continuous improvement system

These units can be credited towards the Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Competitive Manufacturing.
