SUPERCOMPUTER group Silicon Graphics has appointed payroll outsourcing company Mantrack to implement its web-based PayOffice system throughout SGI Australia operations.
Mantrack sales manager Tony Tiftis says the new online system will automate SGI administration processes, eliminating time-consuming paper trails while delivering more information more quickly to both management and employees throughout the country.
"SGI will implement the very latest PayOffice system with Workgroup Manager features conceived and engineered through Mantrack's research and development work in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
“These new features radically reduce the time taken by supervisors and employees to check their daily tasks and entitlements and to allow management and staff to plan the best productivity outcomes with the maximum mutual benefit."
Silicon Graphics' technology combines high-performance computing and data management technologies with advanced visualisation capabilities to allow engineers and researchers to provide new insight through analysis of critical data in industries such as energy, government (including defence) manufacturing, media and science.
Applications of its products are as diverse as ballistic missile systems, homeland defence and planning of environmental, health care, and social and transport systems.
Recent applications in Australia and New Zealand have ranged from studies at the University of Queensland aimed at predicting earthquakes, through to assisting Weta Digital in New Zealand to produce 1200 visual effects shots for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
"With a high concentration of skilled staff across many different disciplines and many different physical locations, SGI needed a system that could deliver not only accurate payroll performance to many different people but also extract valuable management information to help it serve clients better," Mr Tiftis said.
Mantrack's PayOffice system incorporates Mantrack's latest Workgroup Manager module, which is an advanced line management tool that enables supervisors or managers anywhere to access selected functionalities covering timesheets, cost centres, leave and employee details.
The system's Leave Manager, meanwhile, eliminates the paper trail leave applications generate, while simultaneously benefiting supervisors and leave applicants by radically reducing the time taken for processes such as checking production commitments, comparing with other applications, authorisation and notification.
