Manhattan Associates have announced that Nestlé Nespresso have implemented Manhattan Associates’ warehouse management solution (WMS) for open systems at their distribution centre (DC) at Alfortville in France. This is the third site to have had the solution installed following previous deployments at DCs in Yvonand and Chavornay in Switzerland.
The implementations at the three partner-operated sites in France and in Switzerland are part of a world-wide project Nestlé Nespresso is undertaking that will see the Manhattan Associates solution rolled out to many of the DCs operated by their twenty one Logistics partners they work with throughout the world. Nestlé Nespresso selected Manhattan Associates’ solution to support the growth Nestle is experiencing in Europe and around the world.
Following a transition to the new system at Alfortville, Yvonand and Chavornay, during which there was virtually no interruption to the smooth running of the facilities, the sites are now live and benefiting from the system’s reliability and versatility. According to Nicolas Gueissaz, Logistics Director, Nestlé Nespresso following the first implementation of Manhattan Associates’ WMS, they are already benefiting from reliable traceability capabilities that enable them to comply with the specific demands of today’s increasingly regulated food sector.
The new platform gives Nestle a centralised visibility of supply chain inventory and their operational activities worldwide and at the same time allows us to monitor the performance of our Logistics services partners. Nestle are pursuing their global implementation plan as a collaborative exercise with Manhattan’s team of expert consultants. In addition to the immediate benefits they are seeing materialisation, as they implement at each site, the solution will demonstrate their scalability as we roll-out to the entire network and as their transaction volumes grow over time.
Following the go-live at Alfortville, Nestlé Nespresso’s roll-out programme will continue at other sites across Europe during 2009.
