Magna Pacific, the largest independent DVD distributor in Australia and New Zealand, has partnered with Manhattan Associates to implement an Integrated Logistics Solution (ILS) for their newly launched national distribution centre.

Having recently moved from a 1000 square metre site to a 4000 square metre Distribution Centre, Magna Pacific was looking for a world-class supply chain management solution that would enable it to have full visibility across all elements of its supply chain execution.

Through the implementation of Manhattan Associates’ Integrated Logistics Solution, built on Microsoft NET, Magna Pacific has gained the supply chain execution capabilities it required to accurately manage the 9.6 million cases of stock received into their warehouse and more than 1.9 million units they have shipped from the same location in the last quarter alone.

According to Mr Chris Bailey, national operations and IT manager, Magna Pacific, the ILS solution has not only helped the company to improve the flow of goods within their supply chain but has also given it the visibility required to effectively manage its stock levels at all times.

“The implementation of Manhattan Associates’ ILS solution has allowed us a better understanding of our supply chain operations and given us the mechanism to build a truly world-class supply chain,” Mr Bailey said.

“We effectively integrated our business processes to a level that were impossible before we started working with Manhattan Associates. We have increased visibility and the Best Practice strategies built in to the ILS system have helped us highlight areas for continuing improvement.”

As a supply chain software solution, Integrated Logistics Solutions, Built on Microsoft NET steps beyond the traditional boundaries of a warehouse management system to include slotting optimisation, labour management, supplier and customer enablement and performance management functions. The result is a system that can help companies balance supply with demand, reduce operational costs, increase profitability and ensure that end consumers receive their goods when they expect them.

“Magna Pacific is a great success story of rapid growth and innovation,” commented Jeff Baum, Vice President of Asia Pacific for Manhattan Associates.

“With the basics of a very strong business already in place, Integrated Logistics Solutions, Built on Microsoft NET simply helps the company implement the best practices in its supply chain that were already running in the rest of its operations. The increased visibility and control that the solution provides allows Magna Pacific to respond to the needs of its customers quickly and effectively, giving it a direct advantage over the rest of the market through both improved service levels and increased warehouse efficiency.” Mr Baum said.
