Macnaught has just invested more than $1.2 million on advanced technology CNC (computer numerically controlled) machining centres at its Sydney manufacturing complex. This follows the construction of an in-house climate-controlled Quality inspection laboratory with a computerised inspection machine capable of measuring to an accuracy of just a few microns (0.001mm).
Installing the high-precision CNC machinery will benefit Macnaught customers in several ways:
- The new equipment incorporates the latest technology with positioning accuracy +/- 0.002mm (0.00008in) and repeatability +/- 0.001mm (+/-0.00004in)
- These state-of-the-art, energy efficient machine tools are capable of completing a component in as few as one or two operations. The key to ensuring a high standard of quality is to minimise the number of times the part is handled during the machining process
- With these facilities on-site, they are able to maintain their ISO 9001 high quality standards much more easily. They are also able to offer customers unprecedented flexibility and rapid turn-around, delivering all-new product from design to manufacture in as little as a few weeks, compared to several months for equivalent imported items
