A one-of-its-kind robotic timber sorting and stacking system was unveiled earlier this month in Bairnsdale, VIC by Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram.
Designed and installed by Machinery Automation and Robotics (MAR), the timber sorting and stacking system will contribute significantly in improving workplace conditions for the timber industry.
Timber sorting and timber stacking using physical labour exposes employees to injury and fatigue.
Automating the process greatly reduces the OH&S risks while employees can be reallocated to less physically demanding jobs.
The timber sorting and stacking system also allows increased production and production flexibility while reducing overhead costs and wastage.
