Bin cleaning technology company FreshBins will present its patented bin cleaning truck to visitors of National Manufacturing Week 2011, in conjunction with technology partners Machinery Automation and Robotics .
FreshBins Director Paul Sewell and MAR Regional Manager Paul Gekas will demonstrate the ground breaking bin cleaning technology contributed by both companies.
The new units incorporate a pioneering three dimensional sensing robot that was installed and programmed by Machinery Automation and Robotics.
Combining new sensor and collector technology with an effective ozone sterilising system, the company was able to ensure that the new robot can locate and pick up bins for cleaning, regardless of their position or orientation.
When in operation, the FreshBins cleaning truck pulls up beside a bin for cleaning, which is scanned by the 3D system. This system is capable of identifying and locating bins day or night, in all weather conditions.
A separate scanner is also used in order to identify any moving objects within the vicinity of the robot, including people and animals, before the system determines that it is safe to proceed.
The robot then picks up the bin and brings it into the truck and sanitisation booth, where an ozone generator produces, mixes and applies the ozone in the sanitization process, monitoring the percentage concentration to ensure the effective elimination of toxins and pathogens.
Once the sanitization process is complete, the robot places the bin back on the kerb.
